A Little Bit of My Story

When each of my children was identified with hearing loss at birth, I moved through many stages before arriving at a place of acceptance.

My early career in journalism centered on telling everyday stories, but over time, my focus evolved to sharing my family’s experience with hearing loss.

Today, as the mother of two thriving young adults who utilize cochlear implants, I know one thing for certain: no one should have to walk this path alone. For anyone navigating grief or uncertainty and seeking a way forward, I hope you’ll find comfort, guidance, and connection here—through blogs, hearing loss resources, and books.

Even when the future feels uncertain, the stories and tools shared here offer hope and encouragement to help light the way.

To date, my work has reached millions of people across multiple platforms. With an engaged community of parents, professionals, and leaders in the field of deaf and hard of hearing advocacy, I am passionate about championing children who are deaf or hard of hearing.

I invite you to join this vibrant, supportive community, and be part of the ongoing conversation.

When I am not writing, you can find me watching my kids play college football & basketball, or walking my two rescue pups along the beach trail.
